My purr-fect study companion...

Pyper finds something very cozy about my French book. When I open it, she comes running and stretches out. She rolls over onto the computer and basks in the fluorescent lights of the Mac!!!! Ah, to be a feline at the Hill house. Not a bad gig.

Because every good family picture needs a darling neighbor child and two sons who think it would be funny to pull out all their medallions and state rings right as the picture was being taken! Really, there just are no words...
And this was the best we could do. No one was in a particularly keen picture-taking mood! But hey, it's my family and I love 'em (medals, rings and all!)

A scraggly bunch of college folk

Just another day at BYU...it's a well-dressed campus!!!!

"...and then little Red Riding Hood said, "my what big eyes you have!"

Hmmm...there just aren't words for this. Everyone needs to post a hideous picture of themselves. It is good for the soul!

A twisted sistah lives happily ever after

With everything I could say, and all the witty comments I could make (oh, my twisted sistah and I have quite a history filled with laughter and divine blackmail)...all I can say is "pure joy." My heart is happy as I see my evil twin with such a wonderful man. XOX FTC

I have two Kates in my life...Kait the great and little Kate the great. This little mini version is the sweetest little imp ever. She is a spitfire and has everyone in my family wrapped around her little finger. Luckily, she comes with a wonderful family - which makes it even more fun.
This is quite a fellowship. Through thick and thin - girls and no girls - sports wins and sports losses - this circle of friends is secure. Now that they are slowly leaving on missions, the fellowship goes international - some friends in the U.S. and some on the other side of the world. But no matter where they are living, the fellowship stands...and that, after all, is the mark of true friendship.

Roommates!

Alex, Eric and Brandon. Roommates, friends, cousins, tennis partners, fellow students, home teaching companions, wing men, hungry men who love a freebie lunch when Lance and Ruth are in town!

No Longer a "Tween!"

Happy Birthday my new little teenager! Kait is officially no longer a "tween." Birthday festivities involved a homemade cake (made by Chefs Kait and Ruth), swimming with Niki, Scott and family, and party with best friends.
As of August 20, Kait will be the only child home (with both brothers at college). It's a good life for the baby of the family!

A Day of Art

Kait and I went into Salt Lake to have an "art appreciation" day
and a girls lunch.  What a great time.
The exhibit at the Conference Center
is remarkable.  It was my second time through.
These are three of our favorite pieces...
But our favorite, by far, was Alma's Conversion (the first one)
by famed Utah artist, Kim Kincaid
(or known to her closest friends at Fatty Lumpkin).
Kait is quite the art critic
and points out some remarkable observations
about meaning and interpretation!
She is the perfect partner to go back with to The Louvre.

Murphy 1996 ~ 2009

Murphy 1996
                                                       Murphy's favorite spot!
                                                       Murphy & Daphne 2001
Needing a haircut but always smiling
                                                    That just can't be comfortable!
                                                             Our little old man
Murphy was...
Happy, loyal beyond belief, timid but protective -
He knew when Ruth's car pulled in the garage and
was always ready to greet her with tail wagging
(but he ignored anyone else who came in!)
Ready at any moment to rest his little furry chin on
your leg and take a nice nap on your lap
Murphy liked...
Walks, chasing birds, treats, sleeping in the sunshine,
a long drink of water, following Ruth all over the house,
watching Lizzie and Daphne play, stretching on the
grass, biting at sprinklers, curling up with Ruth for
Sunday naps, staring at you while you ate until you
felt guilty enough to share the food with him, pawing
at your arm until you stopped what you were doing
to pet him, and sleeping on Ruth's favorite pillow and
looking so peaceful that she could never move him!
Murphy is...
Running on grass clouds with Clancy, curling up in
Gran's lap, going on walks with Mark and watching
his family as we mourn him and feel grateful we had him
for so long.

Brown and Gold...and a purple tie? It has to be Tony.

Graduation Day for Tony!  Well done hulk.
Tony's three year
stint at DHS has
been pretty great.
Amazing friends,
mad cabinetry skills, wonderful grades, cute dates and fun to be had by all.  Now he will become an Aggie in the fall.
He has a track scholarship so he will throw for another WAC championship next year.

It all started with a bowl of Wheaties!

Tony Hill of Davis High wins the 5A boys shot put at the 1A-5A state
track meet championships on Saturday at BYU. (Deseret News)

Davis senior Tony Hill threw 56 feet, 11.25 inches to add a shot put title to the one he claimed in discus on Friday.
"Not many teams have the depth in field events like we have," Hill said.

It was contagious. If one Davis track and field team member did well, it would transfer to another as he entered his events. It started with Devin Lang, who came into the 1,600-meter run on Friday ranked eighth and finished on top with a time of 4:20.89.

"He was so pumped when he came over to tell us. It sparked us," said shot put and discus thrower Tony Hill. "There are a lot of ups and downs and it's nice to have that momentum."

The momentum carried over on Saturday as the Darts captured their third consecutive team title with a score of 127.67. The next closest team was Bingham, who had 77.8 points. Riverton came in third after trailing Davis most of the meet.  Hill saw inspiration in Lang's performance and drew from it as he took first place in discus with a personal record throw of 157-03.00. He also came in first in the shot put.

Tony used a tuxedo and a 2 year old to get a prom date...smart boy!

Could there be a better looking tuxedo-wearing nearly 3 year old???  I think not.  Max dressed up in his finery to "ask Tony's prom date."  Tony was smart...who could say "no" to such a handsome hobbit?

"Look Ma...no braces!"

Ah, the sweet smile of a braces-less mouth.  Kait's perfect little smile is now metal free.  We are happy...and so is her orthodontist (now that we have paid for his new car, his child's college education and perhaps even a down payment on a new boat!!!!!!)

l'homme avec les muscles puissants!

Tony finished #1 in the state and MVP at the indoor state finals.  He finished #3 at Simplot Nationals.  This boy eats his Wheaties!

I LOVE my Young Women!!!

They are the best...they are the sweetest...they are goodness and loveliness and FUN!!!!  I adore my Young Women.  I can't wait to see what they do with their lives.   This is from Camp Zarahemla (note the very stylish Nephite wear!).  I love my Young Women enough to camp with them.  That's true love.

"What do I do with "IT" ????

Alex has yet to fully understand that "IT" has a name.  "IT's" name is Lola.    Alex "not-really-a-baby-kind-of-guy" Hill gets uneasy holding "IT."  He will say, "What if "IT" cries?  Why does "IT" have such a big bow?  How am I suppose to hold "IT"?  But, "IT" has settled quite comfortably into the arms of her cousin.
Alex and "IT's" mother!

'Ode to Sissy..."

We may see them as harmless little critters who charm you with their bushy tails and saucer-like eyes, but give them artillery...and they are little furry sons of perdition!

The Return!

Waiting...waiting...finally "the Frenchie" is home.   Alex came back from France to his adoring crowd of onlookers:  Kait, Tate, Max, Ruth, Tony, Grandpa Brad, Lance and Niki (pregnant and taking the picture).

There are just no words...

Cousins are the best!

Carlie and Tony - born a week apart.  She is the only girl who Tony actually likes being around. There is nothing like a cousin (and Tony's friends are always glad when she is in town!!!!)

Mes petits enfants préférés mêmes!

Who knew a pissy sissy could spawn such beautiful children!  Rowan, Bryn and Jillian - blood is thicker than water :)

"You lookin' at me?"

Max and Tony are pretty tight buddies.  You mess with one - you get the vengeance of the other!

The "purr-fect" place to read

Kait's favorite place to be...on her bed, curled up under her furry orange blanket, and reading. Cleo's favorite place to be...on Kait's bed, curled up on Kait's furry orange blanket, watching Kait read.

The little white haired old man

Murphy is the oldest member of the "Hill Zoo."  At 13, he walks slowly with arthritis, can't hear anymore...but always wags his tail.  He follows Ruth everywhere she goes and curls up at her feet when she finally sits down.   A little girl Westie named Katie came over recently.  Well, this little white haired old man suddenly acted like he was in his prime.  He flirted with her and even showed off just a bit.  Yes, this little guy still has spring in his step.
