Le garçon avec les lunettes folles

He swears that these are the rage in Paris...really?  Blue glasses?  Really?
I realize Paris is the fashion capital of the world, but I believe they are
sorely lagging behind in eyewear.  Either that, or I am
completely out of touch with what is current and hip.
Only two words that come to mind:  Mr. Magoo!
But, that said, I have always loved Mr. Magoo
and I shall always love the little french
missionary who wears crazy glasses
and loves little white westies.
What's not to love????
Plus, who else could
possible get away
with wearing
giant blue
glasses?
Just one
word...
Tony!

Another wedding in the family...

Another cousin...another wedding!  Eric and Noelle were married in April and it brought out the "Big Guns" from Chicago.  Gpa and Golden Grams were front and center.  Gpa married them and the day was pretty much perfection.  Reception at Sundance.  Seriously?  Did I say Perfection.  Oui, c'est vraie.

Ma famille à Noël

Christmas = Christ, family, friends, Skyping Tony in Belgium, Alex who comes home and grocery bill increases substantially, Victoria who is a cooking wizard and fills house with laughter and fun, Kait who writes Christmas song and plays it on the guitar for my Christmas present, missionary packages, trees, Amazon.com, fireplace and cocoa with an overabundance of mini marshmallows, Stake YW Leader Christmas Open House, plans for sending Christmas cards which dissipate by December 24, lights, Mannheim Steamroller on Pandora, Cleo and Pyper trying to climb the tree, Lizzie going for walks in the snow in her embarrassing orange sweater hoping no neighborhood dogs see her and mock the above-mentioned sweater, enjoying every moment. Life. Beautiful. Ma fille est trés belle et elle me fait sourire toujours.
Ma belle-sœur est trés belle aussi et son rire me fait trop rire.
L'enfant est une joie pour moi!!

A visit from Parisians....

The ward mission leader from Tony's ward in France came to visit. Their beautiful family told us all the details about the life of Elder Hill. Paul, Natasha, Sasha and Elijah were absolutely the most delightful visitors. Niki (and Drew) came to hear all the details. Did she cry...yup! Were we surprised...nope! Tony loves this family and I can see why. Ils sont merveilleux et la gentillesse de passer du temps avec nous sur leurs vacances.

Perfection

December 17th had sunshine, sparkling snow on the ground, delish brunch at the Joseph Smith Building, letter from Tony read by Scott (it began like this..."Today is the 6 month anniversary of me being on my mission and yet my celebration is being selfishly overshadowed by some little wedding for time and all eternity...you can make it up to me by letting all of Victoria's sisters and friends know that I will be available in 2012..."), video and journaling in a "he said, she said" way, Grandpa George marrying his grandson and Victoria in the Salt Lake Temple, reception at the Grand Hall at the Gateway and dancing, dancing, dancing...Big Unit was non-stop (so was Kate Call who literally danced for 2 hours straight and Lola who did not want to leave - she even jumped into Kalen's arms and danced with him instead of leaving!). T'was perfection. Note to self...5" high heels could possibly have been used as torture devices in the Middle Ages. By about 10:00 p.m., I would have opted for the rack instead of my horrific black spikes!!!!

Joyeux Noël

T'was the week before Christmas
and all through France
Tony was skinny -
not fitting in his pants

Christmas candy came from England
RuthAnn McGee sent tons
Hopefully all those goodies
Can put weight on his buns!

His suits have been taken in
But he's running each day
When he comes back in 2012
Just what will he weigh?

He's loving his mission
Loves the people in France
They seem to love him back
Despite his now 'baggy' pants!

Merry Christmas to Tony
Or Joyeux Noël I should say
We love our little frenchman
And think of him every day!

Les missionaires de Paris

The German, the Tahitian and the two Utah Boys...on the steps of the Cathedral at St. Martine.

Tony and his companion visiting Jean-Pierre in Rennes. He is a member who is great about feeding the missionaries and apparently sharing his love of sombreros as well.
